"ScalersTalk口译进阶小组"的前身是"ScalersTalk交传小组"，该小组成立于2015年2月。现阶段，小组专注高级阶段的交替传译与同声传译训练，在巩固语言基本功的同时训练各类口译技能，为承担正式场合的口译打下坚实基础。
本周英译汉的练习材料是64周TED演讲嘉宾Shivani Siroya关于credit scores的演讲（视频网址： Royal Society）的演讲（part 1），主题为"未来中国的走向"。同时，小组开始练习2017年政府工作报告的内容，每周1-3段，学习有关中国经济社会发展的词汇表达、讨论句式处理技巧。本日志整理第64周练习的英译汉部分，以及汉英限时视译的重点、难点段落。
My mom came to the US from India in her late thirties. She's a doctor in Brooklyn, and she often lets friends and neighbors come to see her for health services, whether they can pay right away or not. I remember running into her patients with her at the grocery store or on the sidewalk, and sometimes they would come and pay her right on the spot for previous appointments. She would thank them, and ask them about their families and their health. She gave them credit because she trusted them.
我妈妈来美国是她三十多岁的时候，她从印度来。她是布鲁克林的一名医生。她常常让她的朋友和邻居去找她做健康检查。不管他们能不能立刻付款她都会提供服务。我记得，遇到她的病人是在食品杂货店或者是在人行道上。有时他们会立刻向她付款，付清以前的预约。她会感谢他们，还询问他们的家人和他们自己的健康情况。她给他们赊账是因为她相信他们。
"My mom came to the US from India in her late thirties"本句中的"from India"可有两种处理方式：其一，先存后译（如参考译文）；其二，时间紧迫时，省译，译作"我妈妈来美国是她三十多岁的时候"。
"She often lets friends and neighbors come to see her for health services, whether they can pay right away or not"全句需注意以下两点：
"see her for health services"译作"找她做健康检查"，也可通俗地表达为"找她看病"；
"whether they can pay right away or not"本句在处理时，要避免译成残句，应在后面将句子补充完整，译为"不管他们能不能立刻付款她都会提供服务"。
全句译为"她常常让她的朋友和邻居去找她做健康检查。不管他们能不能立刻付款她都会提供服务"。
give them credit 意为记（某人）的帐，或者给（允许）……赊账。
Banks, credit card companies and other financial institutions don't know us on a personal level, but they do have a way of trusting us, and that's through our credit scores. Our credit scores have been created through an aggregation and analysis of our public consumer credit data. And because of them, we have pretty much easy access to all of the goods and services that we need, from getting electricity to buying a home, or taking a risk and starting a business.
银行、信用卡公司和其它金融机构不了解我们，不了解我们的个人情况，但他们有一套方法来信任我们。方法就是利用我们的信用分数。我们的信用分数的创造方式是整合和分析消费者信贷资料。因为它，我们能更容易获得我们需要的商品和服务，包括用电、买房、承担风险去开办公司。

"credit scores"指信用积分。
"Our credit scores have been created through an aggregation and analysis of our public consumer credit data"一句的"have been created"处理成"的创造"，视译技巧为被动变的；"through"原意为"通过……"，此处处理成"方式是"，整句译为"我们的信用分数的创造方式是整合和分析消费者信贷资料。"
"from getting electricity to buying a home, or taking a risk and starting a business"中的"from…to…"译作"包括……"，整句译为"包括用电、买房、承担风险去开办公司"。
今天，我应邀访问久负盛名的英国皇家学会，深感荣幸。刚才，英国皇家学会授予我"查理二世国王奖"。这不仅是我个人的荣誉，也是对中国科技进步的肯定，同时也是中英两国科技界友谊与合作的象征。对此，我向你们表示衷心的感谢！
Today I'm visiting the prestigious Royal Society. This is a great honour. The Society awarded me the King Charles Second medal. This is not just an honour for me, but one for China's progress in science and technology and one for China-UK friendship and cooperation in science and technology. Thank you.
"我应邀访问久负盛名的英国皇家学会，深感荣幸"中的"应邀访问"的重心在"访问"，且"应邀"即答应邀请，结果为"访问"，因而可省译"应邀"；"深感荣幸"可独立成句，译作"This is a great honour/privilege"或者"I feel deeply honoured/privileged"。
"这不仅是我个人的荣誉，也是对中国科技进步的肯定，同时也是中英两国科技界友谊与合作的象征"本句含句式"不仅是……也是……也是"，可预测先译。句中的"的肯定"和"的象征"表达的就是荣誉，因而处理时选择省译，不重复译出来。整句译作"This is not just an honour for me, but one for China's progress in science and technology and one for China-UK friendship and cooperation in science and technology"。

Since I became Premier of China, this is my fourth visit to the UK. This visit and last one are divided by two years, and it feels different this time. In early 2009, the UK was hit by a rare heavy snow and the global financial crisis. I came from Davos and could sense the uneasiness. I said, "Confidence is worth more than gold." 背景知识补充：美国完全是一个信用社会。有着一套相对完善的信用体系。在这个体系下成长起来的人因为长期受这个体系的约束，所以会让人觉得善良，有道德。其实人性，道德很大程度上是靠外力约束的。美国的信用系统（Credit System）并不是联邦政府或者州政府维护的。相对而言它是一套私人公司运作的系统。但因为包括银行，贷款公司，通讯公司，房租租赁等行业都会花钱去这些权威的公司购买查询信用分数，所以他们的权威性和系统的完善性是非常值得肯定的。于是越来越多的领域都依靠这一套系统。（来源：知识型问答和分享社区HowToDo.Me
