写在前面的话

“ScalersTalk口译进阶小组”的前身是“ScalersTalk交传小组”，该小组成立于2015年2月，目前已完成虐口译训练（《英语三级口译实务》教材篇章精练与复盘）、口译通关训练（《英语二级口译实务》教材篇章精练与复盘以及口译进阶训练（英汉同声传译入门、政府工作报告汉英视译、英汉语言刻意训练）。2017年1月1日，小组正式更名为“ScalersTalk口译进阶小组，专注高级阶段的交替传译与同声传译训练。我们针对英译汉开展融“交替传译”、“无稿同传”、“限时视译”于一体的模块训练，汉译英部分将通过“反向进英”练习夯实成员的语言基础并继续通过政府工作报告汉译英帮助成员积累背景知识和有关中国各方面发展的表达。

本周复盘说明

2017年的英译中采用分话题练习的形式。每月确定一个主题。本月主题为经济发展（一般主题），材料选自世界经济论坛。讲者有阿里巴巴创始人马云、英国首相特丽莎·梅、刚刚卸任的美国副总统拜登以及国际货币基金组织总裁克里斯蒂娜·拉加德，帮助大家通过在巩固口译技巧的同时从不同角度了解世界经济和发展的现状及趋势。

本周英译汉的练习材料是美国副总统约瑟夫·拜登在2017年达沃斯世界经济论坛上的演讲的英文视频（资料网址http://t.cn/RJGMILR），这是他最后一次以美国副总统的身份公开演讲。主题为“国际自由秩序面临威胁”，同时提到收入不公会引发的社会问题，强调应该建立一个合理的税收制度。小组成员利用本材料练习了英汉交替传译、同声传译和限时视译，并学习原文的词汇、表达和句型句式。同时，由于讲者在使用讲稿的时候经常脱稿自行发挥，给带稿同传带来了很大挑战，因此我们也做了带稿同传练习。汉译英部分为政府工作报告视译练习，我们学习了相关表达、积累了领域知识。本日志为本周练习的英译汉部分，第58周政府工作报告的汉译英的复盘内容将与第59周的一起推送。

解析

• bend the arc of history ，bend意为使弯曲， arc 意为弧线，即为是历史的弧线弯曲，也就是改变历史的轨迹。

• Instead of resigning ourselves to ceaseless wars, we built institutions and alliances to advance our shared security. “instead of”意为“而非”或“不是”，表否定，整句译为：我们并没有陷入无止境的战争，而是建立了机构和联盟推动共同的安全。

段落二

Our careful attention to building and sustaining a liberal international order—with the United States and Europe at its core—was the bedrock of the success the world enjoyed in the second half of the 20th Century.

参考译文

解析

• Our careful attention to doing 原意为“我们关注做……”或“我们着力做……”，此处可default成“着力”。

• …with the United States and Europe at its core—was the bedrock of the success the world enjoyed in the second half of the 20th Century. 美国和欧盟为其核心，成为了基石，奠定了世界的成功，在20世纪后半叶尤为如此。这一句的难点在于顺译。因为句中有“the bedrock of the success”这样表示从属关系的短语，以及用来修饰“成功”的表语从句“the success the world enjoyed in the second half of the 20th century”，并且句子的整体修饰语都是靠后。笔译时，可译为“这是20世纪上半叶世界获得成功的基石”，但是同传，则以顺译为主。此处重点在于介词“of”的翻译，采用介词转动词的顺译技巧，译为“奠定了”或“决定了”。对于“was the bedrock of the success// the world enjoyed in the second half of the 20th Century”而言，还有另一种断句的处理方式（见//），顺译为：（这）是成功的基石，奠定了20世纪后半叶的成功。

段落三

Strengthening these values— values that have served our community of nations so well, for so long—is paramount to retaining the position of leadership Western nations enjoy and preserving the progress we have made together.

参考译文

解析

• “…values that have served our community of nations so well, for so long…”译为“这对国际社会有利，长期如此。”，在译文时可简洁处理成：有利于国际社会。“So well”原意为很好，就是对国际社会有利。So long, 长期以来，就是长期以来就是如此。Our community of nations,译为国际社会，community本意为可以理解为一个团体，nations是指所有的国家。由此推断，“所有国家的社区”即“国际社会。”

段落四

Globalization has not been an unalloyed good. It has deepened the rift between those racing ahead at the top and those struggling to hang on in the middle, or falling to the bottom.

参考译文

全球化并不是纯粹的好。它加深了裂痕，扩大了顶层的人与在中间挣扎以及落入底层的人之间的差距。

解析

• unalloyed 纯粹的

• rift 裂痕，deepened the rift译作“加深裂痕”。

• 顺译的模式可以是：“It has deepened the rift（全球化）加深了裂痕between those racing ahead at the top （扩大了）冲在最前面（顶层）的人 and those struggling to hang on in the middle,以及（在中间挣扎的人） or falling to the bottom和落入底层的人（后面就要补一下“之间的差距”）”。本句重点在于between后的内容在顺译时不能留残句，需补译，整句译作：它加深了裂痕，扩大了顶层的人，和在中间挣扎的人以及底层的人之间的差距。

参考译文

解析

• expand access to capital 扩大范围接触到资本，就是是更多的人获得资金

• implementing a progressive, equitable tax system where everyone pays their fair share 实施进步、平等的税收体系。“…where everyone pays their fair share”译作“每个人都支付公平份额”，为税收体系的进一步解释说明，实则与“a progressive, equitable tax system”指同一件事，因而在口译时可以省译。
