“ScalersTalk 口译进阶小组”的前身是“ScalersTalk 交传小组”，成立于 2015 年 2 月，现阶段，小组继续专注高级阶段的交替传译与同声传译训练，在巩固语言基本功的同时训练各类口译技能，从而为承担正式场合的口译打下坚实基础。 96 周起，小组全面引入 CATTI 新版二口教材的训练，时间为每天晚上 8 点到 9 点，训练期间播放录音、记笔记，在空白处按暂停键后做口译，用 QQ 发群语音，然后对照文档，查找漏译和错译的部分，标出口译时较为困难的词汇和表达，随时发到群里；每天早上 6 点到 7 点训练复述。
第 111 周训练材料选自新版《英语口译实务（2级）》，来自《国际先驱导报》专题报道“中国外交流行体育元素”，阐述在全球化时代，体育在中国外交中发挥着越来越大的作用；体育外交也不断地发生着变化。小组成员利用该材料练习了交替传译和限时视译，并学习原文的词汇、表达和句型句式。设备建议：你需要电脑或手机播放音频、手机发送语音。本日志整理的是第 111 周汉译英练习的内容。
进入全球化时代，体育在中国外交中发挥的作用越来越大。2008 年北京奥运会开幕式就吸引了 80 多国政要来华参加，204 个国家和地区奥委会派团参加赛事。奥运会作为最重要的国际体育赛事，是天然的外交舞台。 北京奥运会期间，中国领导人与前来观看奥运赛事的多国政要通过正式和非正式渠道展开多方位的接触，增进相互了解、加强沟通，在轻松的氛围中展开高层次对话，同时，通过奥运会，更多的外国民众看到了中国的发展面貌和好客热情，从文化、体育角度反驳西方社会“中国威胁论”的说法，在全世界面前进行了一次有效的“国家公关”，展现了中国软实力。
Stepping into the era of globalization, China has seen sports playing an increasingly important role in its diplomacy. The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing attracted more than 80 leading political leaders to the opening ceremony and involved spots delegates from 204 countries or regional Olympic Committees. As the most important international sports event, the Olympic Games, inevitably is an appropriate stage for promoting diplomacy. During the Games, Chinese leaders made multiple contacts through formal and informal channels with other national leaders who came to watch the matches and they also held high-level dialogues in relaxing atmosphere, thus promoting mutual understanding and communication. Meanwhile, the Olympic Games enabled more foreign visitors to see in person China's progress and feel its hospitality. These cultural and sports efforts have countered "China's threat theory" in the western world and enhanced China's soft power. They are regarded as a quintessential example of effective public diplomacy.

体育外交缘何会有如此之大的“魔力”？纵观体育外交的历史，我们或许能找到答案。从希腊城邦时代开始，体育伴随着早期国家的兴起就成为国与国之间交往的重要方向。竞技体育传递的更高、更快、更强的精神积极向上，是全球民众关注的焦点，也是国家形象的重要组成部分。通过直接的体育活动，国家之间改善相互印象，打破外交“坚冰”的例子不仅存在于中国，在国际外交史上同样能找到许多案例。
How can sports have so much "magic"? We may seek out the answer to this question by looking back into its history. With the emergence of early nations since the Greek city-state era, sports have become essential to the state-to-state interactions. Being an important element in the making of national images, the spirit of Olympic Games, i.e. higher, faster and stronger, is inspiring and appealing to the world. The sports activities can enhance national images and break the ice in diplomatic ties. This is illustrated not only by China, but also many others in international diplomatic history.

For example, decades after American diplomatic isolation of Cuba, President Bill Clinton claimed that the U.S. would send one American baseball team there for a friendship match, to which Cuban leader Castro gave a warm respond. The stunning performance of Cuban baseball players changed American stereotypical image of this country shaped by the long-term cold war propaganda and eased the relations between two governments and societies. The sports diplomacy experiences derived from Chinese and international societies indicate that sports, a form of cultural activities, involve diversified forms and can turn state actions into less political ones for the world public, thus increasing the intimacy between nations.

如今，在新时期中，体育外交也正不断地发生变化。以中国为例，北京奥运会结束后，中国逐步从“体育大国”向“体育强国”转变，“体育事业”向“体育产业”的方向发展，外交重点也从传统国家之间的交往过滤到民众之间的交流。在新形势下，如何重新界定体育在外交中发挥的作用，更好地推动体育外交成为公共外交的重要元素，值得思考。
Now, in the new era, sports diplomacy is undergoing great changes. Taking China as an example, since the end of the Beijing Olympics, China has transformed from a "sports giant" to a "sports power", with its direction of development shifting from "sports cause" towards "sports industry" and with its diplomatic stress turning from state-to-state exchanges to people-to-people interactions. It is worth our deep thinking about how to redefine the role sports can play in diplomacy, and how to turn sports diplomacy into an essential tool of public diplomacy.
