写在前面的话

“ScalersTalk 口译进阶小组”的前身是“ScalersTalk 交传小组”，成立于 2015 年 2 月，现阶段，小组继续专注高级阶段的交替传译与同声传译训练，在巩固语言基本功的同时训练各类口译技能，从而为承担正式场合的口译打下坚实基础。

本周复盘说明

第 166 周训练材料选用了几篇关于消除贫困的演讲，小组成员利用该材料练习了交替传译和同声传译，并学习原文的词汇、表达和句型句式。设备建议：你需要电脑或手机播放音频、手机发送语音。本日志整理的是马云在2018年5月27日数博会“精准扶贫”演讲的部分内容。

段落一

中央提出全面脱贫，大力反腐是我们国家这么几年来最具理想主义色彩，也是难度最大、力度最大的两大创举。所以历代以来所有的仁人志士都希望解决贫穷问题，解决脱贫问题，但是几乎大家都不能找出好的方法。中国14亿人要全面脱贫，并且设定了时间表，我觉得这个任务之大、之艰巨、之伟大、之意义深远是本世纪最了不起的创举。

The CPC central committee has been devoted to fight against corruption and alleviate poverty. I think these are the most idealistic, most daunting tasks of largest scale. Many forebears have been devoted to poverty elimination. But they haven’t found the right path. To eliminate poverty with a time limit, in China, a country with 1.4 billion people, is the most significant task. It is the most remarkable task of this century.

贫穷不是我们农民不努力，而是我们的农业文明和商业文明没有完美的结合。贫困县不是贫困县不努力，而是我们的发展模式没有跟上。我们真正要消灭的不是穷人，我们要消灭的是贫困，而贫困在根源上有很多的问题，特别是教育的不平衡、医疗健康资源的不充分。

Some farmers are poor, not because they are lazy. That’s because agricultural and commerce are not integrated. Some counties are poor, not because they are not working hard. That’s because the development modal has not been updated. What we need to eradicate are not those living in impoverished regions, but the poverty itself. There are many root problems of poverty, especially the unevenly distributed education and healthcare resources.

解析

• “贫穷不是我们农民不努力”、“贫困县不是贫困县不努力”指的是因为农业和商业文明没有完美集合，所以有一些农民依旧贫穷；因为发展模式没跟上，所以有一些县城依旧贫困。在翻译时需要替换主语，把与后一句的因果关系表达出来。

• “我们真正要消灭的不是穷人，我们要消灭的是贫困”与英国殖民主义时期的一句话异曲同工：把穷人送到国外去，英国就会致富。翻译为“What we need to eradicate are not those living in rural area, but the poverty itself”。
