写在前面的话

“ScalersTalk 口译进阶小组”的前身是“ScalersTalk 交传小组”，成立于 2015 年 2 月，现阶段，小组继续专注高级阶段的交替传译与同声传译训练，在巩固语言基本功的同时训练各类口译技能，从而为承担正式场合的口译打下坚实基础。

本周复盘说明

第 160-161 周训练材料选自 speech repository 的一系列训练材料，目的在于提升会口译员培训质量。小组成员利用该材料练习了交替传译和限时视译，并学习原文的词汇、表达和句型句式。设备建议：你需要电脑或手机播放音频、手机发送语音。本日志整理的是第 160 周汉译英练习的内容，内容是关于中草药的一段演讲。

最近，西方人对中草药——也就是来自中国的中药——越来越感兴趣。根据统计，2011年的时候欧美国家自华进口中草药的总量增加了1/3，达到了23.3亿美元。但是同时人们发现，自华进口中药存在风险，人们在购买中药的时候往往会把残余的农药一起带回家。环保机构绿色和平在2012年1月到2013年的4月对欧美八国的枸杞、人参、菊花、枣子等7种最常见的药用植物进行了检测，在36项测试当中有32项发现了农药的残余，其中在德国的一项测试中同时发现了26种农药成分。

Lately, people in western countries are showing greater interest in Chinese herbal medicine. According to stats, in 2011, imported herbal medicine from China to the West increased by one third, reaching $2.33 billion. However, people also found that they are taking risks to import Chinese medicine as it contains pesticide residues. From January 2012 to April 2013, an environmental organization Greenpeace tested seven most common medicinal plants including goji berry, ginseng, chrysanthemum and dates, imported by eight countries in the western world. It turned out that pesticide residues were found in 32 out of the 36 tests. One test conducted in Germany even showed the presence of 26 kinds of pesticides at the same time.

Although the results were terrible, experts believed that it doesn’t mean that people should rule out the use of Chinese herbal medicine altogether. Then how can we lower the risk of taking in pesticide along with Chinese herbs? According to the experts, we’d better buy Chinese herbs in pharmacies where the herbs are imported as medicine so they will be subject to further examination after arriving in Europe and therefore much safer. On the contrary, the Chinese herbs that can be purchased in the supermarkets or via the Internet are imported as food which means they will not get examined again in Europe and therefore be more likely to contain pesticide residues. Another suggestion from the experts is to consult your doctor before taking in Chinese herbal medicine and try to avoid unnecessary medication.

I have faith in that in the future European and American people will be more positive towards Chinese herbal medicine as they gain more knowledge of it. But as of now, if Chinese medicine were to secure a larger share of market in Europe, the problem of its safety and quality must be solved.
