I understand why Donald Trump is so unpopular. He earned it the old-fashioned way, by being obnoxious, insulting and offensive. But why is Hillary Clinton so unpopular?

old-fashioned=old school=old skool, 但这句话里真正吸引我的是 the old-fashioned way， 就像我们很难意识到我们说的汉语离标准语法多远，这个短语同样被很自然地简化下来，省略了in。
20世纪50年代，美国擅自将钓鱼岛纳入其托管范围，70年代美国将钓鱼岛“施政权”“归还”日本。美日对钓鱼岛进行私相授受，严重侵犯了中国的领土主权，是非法的、无效的，没有也不能改变钓鱼岛属于中国的事实。

散文对不少人而言绝对是煎熬，这类文本一般不会有太多故事性，对词汇量又有一定的要求，而且老实说，就”berries, beech mast, chestnuts, and acorns”这些单词，你如果早就已经知道了还好，特意去做笔记似乎也没必要，毕竟你能见到这些词的机会也不多，搜一下这些东西长啥样就好。但就我个人而言，能把这么两段散文读下来是纯粹因为我之前看过了不少的小说（TE、NYT这些杂志还是不够小说好），这些散文会让我联想起以往读过的故事，再者说，这篇散文真的是很好的写作素（教）材啊，几乎每一个主语都是实词，每一句话都能让人联想到生活的实景，这些都是要自己体会的，别光做作业忘了学。

不知道大家有没有听过农夫乐队的《456 wing》( live ), 里面用一个featuring带出世人对表演行业的看法。其实就像中文，英语里面除了惯用搭配外还有管用表达，有时一个featuring就抵你一串从句。
“国际关系民主化、法治化、合理化”直接让我想到了金圣华的《性、元、度、化、值》，如今汉语欧化现象严重，领导们总喜欢迎着这五个字拍脑袋造出不知所谓的新词，但我们翻译时却不能把它们直接代回到英文中去，而要在理解好中文的前提下，写出平实的英文，老实说，就汉译英对表达清晰方面的追求而言，与其称之为译文，不如叫做官方解释版好了。
