这句话我认为有两个难点：
the least desirable work：要翻译成“苦差事”；
and little of it at that参考译文翻译成了“报酬也微不足道”，而我个人和群里的@胡涂涂 最初的“就连这种苦差事也很少”
然后@瑶瑶 给出了如下意见，我还是比较赞同的，感谢！“看了下文章，The immigrants上一段是说 Mr Jallow不会回Gambia，他宁愿死在这也不能空手回家，如果回家，别人会问你做什么了，他们以为在欧洲there is money all over。然后这一段是他们的现状，只能找到那样的苦差事....我觉得接下来译成报酬少跟上一段比较连贯、呼应。”
从公路上远远望去，他们的简易居所看起来就像是掩藏在树林里的圆顶冰屋，可等走进了再看，则是一片狼藉，肮脏不堪；垃圾堆积如山，苍蝇到处乱飞，树枝上挂着破旧的衣服，衣服上布满了土，经过雨水的浸泡，都硬邦邦的。

硬梆梆的 stiff （a）:①僵直的，酸痛的：Her legs were stiff from kneeling。他的双腿跪得僵硬了；②硬的，挺得，不易弯曲的：a shirt with a stiff collar 领子挺括（gua）的衬衫；③稠的，难搅拌的：Beat the egg whites untill stiff.把蛋白打到发稠；④严厉的，艰难的：stiff sentence/penalty /fine,stiff competition/opposition ;⑤ 生硬的，不友好的：Their goodbyes were stiff and formal.他们的道别声音刻板；⑥stiff upper lip （面对困难时）沉着坚强：Men were taught to keep a stiff upper lip.男人被教导要沉着坚强;
文学类的翻译总是有点让人摸不着头脑； 中文很多话说出来可以无主语，而英语则不行。这句话就是，无主语，处理起来还是很难的； 这类翻译我认为还一个难点就是词汇的选用，既要保证用词多样还要准确，能够很好的把汉语中的意思传达出来；

这句话难点主要在第一句“Nowhere will east-west divisions be more apparent than in Moscow itself.” “nowhere be more than”这里要处理成最高级的表达；

“知情人士”在这里翻译成“insider”我觉得也是可以的，insider：内部的人，知道内情的人；
“宏观押注失手”，经济类词汇，大家注意多积累、了解

我觉的这里的“through”也是一个难点。我直接就将"this approach" 加到了"through" 前边 译为"这一方法通过..."这个虽然意思还是对的，但还是很别扭。而原译文将这句话处理成"this approach"将使"the US and this region"怎么怎么样...,明显更为流畅自然。
中国同广大发展中国家命运相连、诉求相近、理念相通，我们始终不会忘记作为发展中国家这个“本”，将永远做发展中国家的可靠朋友和真诚伙伴。

和某人命运相连、诉求相同、理念相同 share a common destiny as well as the same aspiration and vision with sb.； 作为...的 “本”：identity as...； 可靠朋友 a reliable friend； 真诚的伙伴 a true partner；
“命运相连，诉求相近，理念相同”这种四字词组又来啦，大家快跑... 。大家在处理这类词组的时候，要先充分理解其表达的汉语含义，我觉得汉语总是很花哨，看似很高端的词，其实在英语中一个我们很常见的词汇就解决了；
在这里我犯了这样一个错误，大家注意避免：“本”我译为了“the root of ”，我又给字面翻译了。其实在这句话中，“本”不就是“身份”么，所以要译为“identity”

女校长最爱空架子和虚面子；她妹妹脾气好得痴呆混沌；年纪大的学生喜欢说些无聊的闲话，讲讲人家的私隐；女教师们又全是一丝不苟的老古板。这一切都同样叫她气闷。
pompous(贬)自大的，自负的，浮夸的：He seems rather pompous.她看上去相当自负；
vanity 虚荣（心），自负：the personal vanities and ambitions of politicians.政治家的虚荣心和野心。vanity fair 《名利场》；

good-humor愉快的心情，好脾气，乐观的人生态度；
the silly chat 无聊的闲话；
scandal ①（尤指牵涉名人的）丑闻，隐私：He has been at the centre of a political scandal. ②关于丑闻的言谈：The magazine is full of gossip and scandal.这本杂子全是一些大小八卦。③be a scandal 令人震惊，不能接受：The price of petrol these days is in an absolute scandal.
frigid 冷淡的，不友好的：The guard looked at us with a frigid stare.保安冷冷地盯着我们；
correctness 端正，正确；
governess （旧时）家庭女教师；
这是选自Vanity fair的一句话，据说在很多翻译教材里都有，由此可见这句话很经典啊；
一句话大概有三四个生词，理解起来还不不太容易的；而且全是of 句式，我们很容易就处理成“什么什么的”，会让译文很奇怪，所以这也算是一个难点；
要译的很有文学性，不仅需要我们透彻的理解英语，更需要我们扎实的汉语功底；
应该变赢者通吃为各方共赢，共同做大亚太发展的蛋糕。
We should replace the "winner-take-all" mentality with an all-win approach and work together for great development and prosperity of the Asian-Pacific region.

句子很短，有些词组可能不太好处理，“赢者通吃”，”发展的蛋糕“；
我在翻译的时候，又是和“蛋糕”杠上了，直接加上了“cake”，其实这就是因为并没有抓住“发展的蛋糕”这句话的核心含义，蛋糕也好，馒头也好，不就是发展更好，更加繁荣么？

民众欣喜若狂，特别是那些下了赌注，赌凯特会生女儿的人。还有一些人在等着进一步获利，如果他们猜对女婴的名字，还会赢更多钱。
rejoice (v) ①喜悦，欢喜：rejoice at/over/in，His family rejoiced at the news.听到这个消息，他全家都欢欣鼓舞。② rejoice in the name/title （of）sth有个滑稽的名字/称呼叫...，He rejoices in the name of Pigg.他有个滑稽的名字叫Pigg; rejoicing (n)欢庆，喜庆；
place bets on 在...上下赌注；
windfall（n）①意外之财：His $2million windfall in the lottery.他中彩票得来的两百万美元意外之财。②被封吹落的果实；
这句话总体不太难，第一句算是一个难点，“there was much rejoicing in the land”，我就给翻译成了“这里有很多乐事”，其实结合到后边的句意，讲的是人，应该是可以译出“人们很高兴”这个意思。这也提醒我们翻译时不要脱离上下文，这样才能保证译文紧密衔接不断片。

A Collection of Court Exhibits from the International Military Tribunal for the Far East is classified into 53 volumes containing 3,915 court items. It is the first time such court exhibits have been published globally. The collection includes important evidence that proved Japanese war criminals’ role in the September 18 Incident, Marco Polo Bridge Incident and the Nanjing Massacre.

开头就是一本书，这个要是没听说过的，要是想把它翻译准确还是不太简单；
整句没啥生词，也很好理解。但有一点可能很多人没注意到，就是语序问题。译者将" It is the first time such court exhibits have been published globally"翻译之后处理在了最后一句，将"The collection includes..."提前。这个我觉得非常好，前边说证据材料，下面紧接着阐述这些具体材料。这样一来，译文就能衔接的很紧密。

中译英我认为很大的一个问题就是用词简单，单调或是很中式的英语，可能我们自己不觉得，但是老外看了估计会感觉很奇怪；
中译英，很多时候需要我们跳出来换个角度思考。比如本文中的“荷兰成为...”我们大部分人看到“成为”，第一反应是“become”。其实换个角度，荷兰 “成为” 一个帝国不就是荷兰正在 “构建” 一个帝国么。

Retail gross merchandise value on Alibaba’s platforms was $97bn. Gross merchandise value, the value of sales on Alibaba’s retail marketplaces Taobao and Tmall, rose 40 per cent year on year, compared with 49 per cent in December.

in December 在这里是“第四季度”的意思而不是“十二月份”。
这是一篇经济类文章，里边有好多专业词汇，翻译的时候可能拿捏不准，很多地方用词可能会很不恰当。比如dip below...“跌破”，如果自己不是很了解这个领域的话，可能翻译为“下降到...以下”。a share-based compensation expense“股票激励支出”等等，这些都需要我们深入对经济领域的了解；
'The move to replace Mr Lu...."第三段这一段，我认为还是很有难度，我在翻译的时候译文调整了好半天。倒不是因为生词多。比如这个 "replace",大家都知道是 “更换，替换”的意思，但如果这两个词用在这里显然是不合适的，原译者则巧妙的用了“换帅”一词；follow也是一个难点，原译者将其处理成了“在...之后”，我忘记了这叫神马译法了；还有专业词汇post-IPO；
总之，每次遇到有难度的文章，看了译员巧妙处理的译文之后都深感自身不足，当然人FT译员千字五百到一千（我也是听说，各位别当真，哈哈哈）肯定也不是糊弄人的，各位加油练习吧！

最后几次民调似乎表明，在选民支持方面，英国独立党(Ukip)是全国第三大政党，支持率通常为11%至12%，而自由民主党支持率在9%左右。

每次中译英都觉得自己的译文很拖沓，废话很多，但不说这么多意思又表达不出来。还有就是词汇上，有的有些过于简单；
很多常见的专有词汇大家也有多记忆，比如 “民意测验”，“民调专家”等等，这样在遇到的时候可以直接写出，免去了查字典浪费的时间；
第三段译出来容易，但是译的好就不简单了。文中出现多个“显示...”，这就需要我们在翻译成英语时要用多个不同的词汇来处理。原译者则将这三个“显示”分别处理为“put”，“had them tied on” “gave”；
