2015/05/03 每日一句 英汉：Both India and China have intense national testing programs to find the brightest students for their elite universities. The competition, the preparation and the national anxiety about the outcomes make the SAT testing programs in the US seem like the minor leagues.
参考译文
印度和中国都有竞争激烈的全国统考制度，通过考试帮助国内的顶尖大学选出最聪明的学生。其竞争之激烈、准备过程之艰苦、举国上下对考试结果之焦虑，无不让美国的大学本科入学考试SAT看起来如同儿戏一般。

难点主要金额生词，比如poignant，unsettling；句式最不好处理的我认为是这个： “It will probably be the last important Victory Day anniversary involving veterans and survivors of the conflict, men and women who bear direct witness to its horror.”，给我的感觉就是虽然没有生词，但是翻译成 中文很难措辞
原译者将at a moment of acute diplomatic tension处理成了“外交紧张颇为尖锐的时刻”，我认为读起来有些别扭，我试译为“外交关系颇为紧张尖锐的时刻”
2.中译英
伯南克告诉《纽约时报》(New York Times)，他对外界对于“旋转门”的忧虑很敏感，他之所以选择在Citadel而不是某家银行任职，部分原因就是Citadel不受美联储的监管。他表示，他将不会从事“任何类型的游说活动”。

因为这是从英文翻译过来的文章又倒过来翻译的，所以可能还是有些出入。比如首席执行官译为了“founder and chief executive”；
做汉英时，尝试着跳出汉语字面意思的束缚，比如文中的“理解”，我们很自然就想到了understanding之类的词汇，而译者译为了“knowledge”；做英译汉我觉得也是这样，既要全身心的投入英文，理解文意，但又要学会跳出来英文的束缚，让译文更流畅地道，尽量减少翻译腔。

这句话并不太难，担忧几个个小点我认为要是译很精当的话还是有些难度。比如"don't agree on",我处理成了"并不认为..."，很明显不如 "意见不一"更好；share不要总想到"分享":the shared responsibility 共同的责任；还有最后的 "emotional characteristic"我一直想译为“情绪特征”可是又和后边的stress "压力"不太搭，虽然和参考译文的“感情特征”和“压力感”只相差几个字，但参考译文的翻译、衔接处理的都很好。
